Continuing the tour of the island beaches and at a distance of 17 km from Chora (12 km from the shorter road), you will reach one of the most popular and frequented beaches of the island, Panormos. Panormos is a large leeward gulf with a pebbly beach and crystal clear waters, which get deep immediately as you enter! It is an organized beach and has a lifeguard. Along the beach there are many rooms to let, hotels and restaurants. There is also a parking area, but relatively limited. It is worth enjoying your bathe at Panormos at the time of sunset, as the scene is amazing! In the ancient years at Panormos, there used to be a fortified Acropolis on the “Palaiokastro” hill, whose walls are saved in excellent condition.

on Skopelos. The first beach someone meets when exiting the town of Skopelos, at a distance of 4 km, is Stafylos, one of the most well-known and visited beaches of the island, which took its name from king Stafylos. It is a beautiful pine bay, with a sandy beach and clear waters. The beach at Stafylos is organized, with a beach bar and a lifeguard. If you use a bus for your transport, keep in mind that it stops on the road from Skopelos to Glossa, and from there you will have to walk about 500m to get to the beach

Leaving behind the Antrines, you will meet Milia, which is for many the most beautiful beach of the island. It is a large organized beach, which has a lifeguard and a beach bar. Milia could be characterized “exotic”, as it has fine pebbles and clear blue-green waters! Around there are infinite pines that are pleasing to the eye and characteristic rocks in the sea. One rock separates the coast in half, with the left side gathering most people, while the right side is more quiet. Opposite Milia you can see the small all-green island of Dassia. Stay on till sunset to enjoy the most majestic sunset, that for sure will stay in your memory forever.

MAMMA MIA BEACH!!Shortly before entering the village of Glossa, you will see a road on your right leading to the church of Ai Giannis –Ai Giannis to Kastri as it is called- which is on the top of a large rock. Access to the church requires a climb of 105 steps, but it is 100% worth it! There are two small beaches with rocks and wonderful waters. You can access them on foot, leaving the car on the main road, near the small canteen. One of the two is easily accessible; to get to the next one, you will have to climb the rocks or swim.

Monastery of Timios Prodromos: The monastery is just 300 metres from Agia Varvara, on mountain Palouki. It is a favourite monastery of all locals with its welcoming nuns who still tcare for the monastery. It was renovated from its foundations in 1721 under monk Filaretos, as it is mentioned on the inscription at its entrance. Until 1920 the monastery was male, but since it has been female. The monastery of Prodromos is the same type as the church of Metamorphosi (cruciform with 4 pillars) with the only difference being the presence of two presentations on the side, in accordance with the Mount Athos system. It has a wood-carved, gilded, high temple with rich decoration with tendrils, birds, animals and 15 icons with large feasts, while it consists of two pieces, one 14th and one 18th century and the frescoes are of the 14th-15th century. The icons of the monastery are also important, dating to the 16th, 17th and 18th century AD. At the altar of the monastery there is a mural concerning the founding of the monastery. The apse depicts the Prayer, and on either side Saint Charalambos and Monk and Founder Filaretos. The monastery celebrates on June 24 and there is an evening prayer in the monastery on the eve.

Monastery of Evangelismos: The monastery of Evangelistria (Virgin Mary) is located on the mountainside of Palouki - at a place with great views, and its fortress-like appearance is associated with pirate raids. It was built in 1712 on the ruins of an old Byzantine monastery of 1676 by Hadji-Stefanis Daponte (father of Kaisarios Daponte), and it belongs to the Xiropotamos monastery of Mount Athos. Today there are only two nuns left at the monastery. You can visit the monastery daily 08.00-13.00 and 17.00-19.00. We should mention here that this schedule applies broadly to other inhabited monasteries on Skopelos. In the large inner courtyard you will find a roofed fountain refers to Daponte as the founder of the monastery, and a small exhibition with various objects and images. There are old icons of the 14th century in the monastery, and its temple is covered with leaves of gold (made in a workshop in Constantinople), and it is decorated with depictions of plants and animals and scenes from the Old and New Testaments. The foundation and the rising of the monastery is directly linked, as mentioned, to the great Daponte family. Apart from the testimonies of the scholar monk from Skopelos, no other written source is preserved to inform us about the creation and renovation of the monastery. So, according to the Kaisarios Daponte, in a monastery code written by himself, there used to be a smalle monastery in the same place owned by the Daponte family, and namely by his father, Hadji - Stefanis, Ioannis Grammatikos. At his own expense, Hadji Stefanis renovated the old monastery in 1712 and gave it is current form. The renovation at that time cost “5 pougia” ie 5 x 500 = 2,500 piasters (grossia). The reason for the renovation was a miracle of Our Lady, by which Hadji-Stefanis was saved when notables of the island enviously gave him over to the Agas of the islands to be killed.

THE FOLKLORE MUSEUM The Skopelos Folklore Museum, where physical evidence of the land are found, was founded with an aim to project the cultural richness of the island and create a spiritual core equal to the traditions and its history. The building which houses the Folklore Museum was donated in 1991 by the Nikolaidis family to the Municipality of Skopelos. The old building was built in 1795 and maintained up to 1963, when the first and second floors collapsed due to earthquakes. The foundations of the building were re-built in 1971 based on the plans of the old building and it took the form it has today, maintaining all the internal and external characteristics of the traditional style of the settlement, which has been legally deemed as listed. The Folklore Museum of Skopelos opened its doors to the public in August 1992, giving back life to the old mansion of the previous century. Old women dug out their chests and offered all their treasures, and these became the collections material for the museum, where each item found its rightful place. Thus, a mansion from the previous century was set up, and although the absence of its residents is felt, it gives the impression that they are somewhere close and that sooner or later they will appear. Collections of the Skopelos Museum are made up of a number of traditional hand-made embroidered items that have been placed so as to decorate the sitting room, the fireplace or the area of the bridal bedroom, where all the dowry of the bride seems untouched by time. The ground floor contains the sitting area and the fireplace. The couch is decorated by wonderful embroidery. The furniture is wood-carved, works of the traditional craftsman of the island, and it completes the space with the appropriate majesty. The bridal bedroom with the other exhibits of the Museum beside it. The bridal bedroom with the baby’s crib and the swaddling clothes spread out next to it are on the second floor of the mansion. The other areas are covered by the guest room with sofas of that time, made from parts of the embroidery of the traditional bridal clothes
