Even without a boat this lake is amazing. Just going for a quick swim is as easy as a 5 min. car ride. Do not let general public usage, litter etc. scare you away from a sweet plunge in the refreshing mountain water. Fishing is also a major attraction here.

The AT is minutes from the cabin up on Hwy 421. There are outfitters in Damascus Va. ( about 35 mins away) who can arrange any number of hiking / biking adventures.

Shady Valley in and of itself is a crossroads of a sleepy Tenn. hamlet. But it is the epicenter of "The Snake" motorcycle and car club enthusiasts. The picture is of "Backbone Rock" which is a lovely State Park and hiking area approx. 20 mins from the cabin.

Abingdon is a fantastic little town of historic significance with well developed cultural activities, The Barter Theatre, galleries, brew pub and live music. Abingdon is also home to The Martha Washington Hotel which has fine dining and beverage service. Abingdon is approx. 30 mins from the cabin
