Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid in Welsh) is the largest natural body of water in Wales and is over 3.5 miles long and half a mile wide. It is 14 miles from Bryn Glas, to get there turn left out of the drive and keep going until you reach Bala, you’ll see the lake on the left. A slightly longer route goes on the ‘back road’ which is very scenic. Drive along the shore of Lake Vyrnwy (either side of the lake it doesn't matter) and take the road at the very end of the lake signposted for Bala. It has much to offer; walks, watersports, white water rafting, cycle hire, fishing and much more. For comprehensive information on what Bala has to offer visit www.visitbala.org.

The Berwyn Mountains provide some fantastic walking in the local area. You could walk to the top of Cadair Berwyn, Cadair Bronwen or Moel Sych. There is a lovely walk from the waterfall in Llanrhaeadr that goes round Llyn Lluncaws and up to the top of Moel Sych, it's a challenging/lengthy route but well worth the effort. I would not recommend it for small children.
