Often visitors new to Salt Spring will swim in the ocean - the locals, well we swim in the lakes. Cushion Lake is a great lake to take a dip in. It has a shallow area for kids on the edge of the public access. Beware the dock though it can be a bit rickety!

Rent a kayak and paddle out to Third Sister Island and Chocolate Beach. As well as a fabulous white shell beach it has the best example of an artistic outhouse in the gulf islands.
