these world-famous cluster of villages, perched on rocky slopes in Liguria, are absolutely worth a visit- a one-day trip is possible from viareggio by train ( to LaSpezia, then to the villages by the dedicated small train) or by boat ( ask for info)- driving not advisable ( no parking in the 5 Terre, sorry...)- and grat food: try pesto at least once!
