Where to find Serenity on the Bay

Sightseeing

With stronger, surfier waves, this one is a local and a traveller favourite. Great ocean views with a cafe and a surf club right on the water. Can be very busy in peak times, so if in doubt, park in the neighbourhood and walk up the hill to the beach.

Incredible views! A 165m hike up the mountain to the top which isn't too hard. Bring a torch and stay for the sunset - or even better, get up for the sunrise and enjoy a drink with someone you love. Regardless, you're going to want to bring your camera for this one. If you're not feeling up to it (pun intended), take a bushwalk through to Wreck Beach, which can be accessed through the carpark.

Start here and walk or cycle along the pathway that will take you all the way to Tomaree Mountain in Shoal Bay. There and back on a bike is around 5 hours. A beautiful way to spend a sunny day - and, a personal favourite.

Sights and Food

A beautiful place to walk, especially around sunset. Close to cafes. Take a walk around the corner along Newcastle Beach and have dinner on one of the restaurants on Darby St.

Restaurants located here as well, but the true highlight is the Sacred Tree Night Markets that happen throughout the year. Check their website for more information: https://sacredtreemarkets.com.au/nelson-bay-market/

If you're looking for a hot, beach holiday but you haven't gone here, you've missed out. Amazing, homemade gelato that's been a hit with everyone (including me) since it opened.
