The Downtown area specifically. Park outside of The Boardroom Pub and Grub, and walk to Suds n Cinema (dinner with a movie!), Taste Tapas and Wine Bar, KC's Sandbar and Grill, The Ratchet Hatchet (axe throwing), Ali's Bistro, and Magnolia Grill.
Painting with a Twist is in a strip-mall across the street.

This island is much closer than Destin, and has much the same amenities. Rockin Tacos, The Crab Trap, and Anglers Beachside Grill are tourist spots right on the beach. My wife and I really like The Gulf restaurant. There is also Captain Jack's Dueling Piano Bar. Don't forget the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier.
For the family I recommend the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, and Wild Willy's Adventure Zone.

Okaloosa Island
This island is much closer than Destin, and has much the same amenities. Rockin Tacos, The Crab Trap, and Anglers Beachside Grill are tourist spots right on the beach. Timberlake Trail is a 8.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Eglin Air Force Base, Florida that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

This ride heads out on the sandy, pine forest, trails that make up the east side of Timberlake Bike Trail Recreation Area. Overall, this route is fast and flowing with some small elevation changes, a few log crossings, and sections that run through a tight, twisting slalom course between the trees.
The trail surfaces can go from hard pack to reasonably grippy pine needles to extremely slippery oak leaves and occasional pockets of deep sand. Due to these changing surfaces, be ready to change your speed and stance. Additional care must be taken in the corners or small turkey oaks and pine trees will reach out and grab you. There are many trails to explore in this area, but be sure to bring cold water because of the dry, hot summer temps.
