You can bike to the ferry/port of departure along the waterfront from my apartment, it's a nice ride. Otherwise plan a longer walk and go via the Financial District (walking by the Stock Exchange on Wall St and Raging Bull) or you can walk along the waterfront! Either way, I recommend buying tickets online in advance as it allows you to skip the line (to board the ferry) upon arrival.

My favorite museum due to its size, not too overwhelming! Great views and located in a beautiful park of the city, falling between the West Village and Meatpacking district. Lots of great places to eat and explore, I'd visit the Highline (outdoor park) afterwards! The Whitney is for American art, FYI!

If you want to experience being a Brooklyn "hipster" Domino Park is a prime spot. You can take a ferry here from the ferry terminal not far from my apartment, otherwise I normally jump in an Uber if I'm too lazy to take the subway, although it's not technically that far!

This park has lovely views of the city and lots of green space. Either walk over the Brooklyn Bridge or take a ferry, cab or subway to reach it from my apartment!

Probably my favorite park. Just sitting and watching New Yorkers and life go by. I've sat here in the summer by the fountain or under a tree and I've sat here in the dead of winter on a bench all bundled up. It's just quintessential NY at its finest. There's also a really good Indian cart in the park (normally by the dog park) NY Dosas, but be advised he's usually sold out by the afternoon!
