Italian Pizza /Dining pub - great for families
A 13th century village pub, it recently won Devon Dining Pub of the Year. Outstandingly good food, it's our favourite inn by far and a 20 minute walk from the cottage (or 5 min drive). Does great ales, gins, wine and atmosphere (esp in the older part of the pub). Book ahead - especially during holiday times.

A must-visit when in Bigbury on Sea - walk over to Burgh Island when the tide is out, come back by sea tractor if the tide is in. The Pilchard have a large outdoor seating area looking over the beach and a very cosy indoor bar. Food is casual dining, but the best you'll taste. Incredible fish and chips, veggie (or not) burgers, and pizzas - all ordered to take away from a cabin below or eat in or out. Ice Cream stand outside in summer.

Good fish and chips, and roasts, lovely beer garden.
Quirky little place that's a joy to sit in - or out (large garden for summer & winter dining) at. Seafood and meat dishes best, but some veggie options too. The Old SchoolHouse sits in a field just above the beach at Mothecombe.

Take in the art deco hotel, get there early for lunchtime baguettes at the old smugglers inn and make sure to check the tide times - walk across to this tidal island or get the sea tractor back (£2) when it's running.

Agatha Christie's Holiday Home is set in vast and stunning gardens that vary from the sub-tropical to ferneries, greenhouses and bowling greens. Well worth a day's visit, the house is also intriguing, whether you're a Christie fan or not. Drive, take the steam train that runs along the river, or the ferry.
