Edley's is right around the corner; turn right onto 12th and it's a block down the street. Along with Martin's, Edley's is one of our neighborhood favorites. Try the brisket tacos!

Martin's is a 10-15 minute walk or short drive down to Belmont Blvd. Along with Edley's it's one of our favorites. We prefer the brisket at Martin's!

Josephine is our favorite restaurant in Nashville for special occasions. Luckily, it's just a few blocks up 12th Ave South. It's won a James Beard award for best restaurant the South -- and it's darn good. Quiet tables, usually need a reservation...but can often get squeezed in at the bar if you don't have one.

Great Burgers, literally across the street. This is also our favorite place to grab a drink at the bar.

Hawkers opened up in East Nashville this year -- so it's across town - but worth the 15-minute drive. Hawkers has an eclectic menu of Asian Street food - it's like being at a big market in Singapore or Hong Kong - we bring our kids here to eat outside. It's a lot of fun!

It's too bad that John Prine passed away last March, because he was known to be a lunch regular at Arnold's. If you're looking for a classic Nashville Meat + 3, don't miss Arnold's. (Meat + 3 is a classic Southern restaurant where you are served cafeteria style - you choose a daily meat special plus 3 sides.)

Monell's - well worth the short drive to Germantown. This is a classic old-school Black-owned business that has been filling bellies forever. They bring baskets of fried chicken to the table like other restaurants bring bread. Need I say more. So good!

Great place for a milkshake, fries and to to listen to Chuck Berry or Elvis. This is a few miles West of us near the Sylvan Park neighborhood...worth a drive for an old-school hangout!

Franklin is our favorite nearby day-trip town. It's about 30 minutes south of Nashville and has a beautiful, historic city square with great shopping, great restaurants and many interesting landmarks. Our favorite place to eat are Meridee's Breadbasket and Pucket's.
