A great little spot right on the river about a 15 minute walk from the house. They have a great patio to be enjoyed on sunny days and in the winter (it's covered and heated). Typical pub food, local beers on tap and great Caesars.

A 5-minute walk from the house this is another great go-to restaurant. They have a creative menu at reasonable prices and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is often live music on Fridays, half-price bottles of wine on Thursdays and many other great weekly deals.

CURRENTLY CLOSED -- Unfortunately, this little gem of a spot burnt down over the winter. We hope they will be back up and running soon! By far one of the best breakfasts in town! Fergie's is located about a 10 minute drive up the Squamish Valley Road on a lovely little property by the river. Enjoy an amazing breakfast or lunch on a picnic table in the garden. This place gets very busy, so be prepared to wait a while for food or go early!

A great little coffee shop just a block from the house. They make good coffee and great on-the-go food (wraps, muffins, cookings). We often pop in here if we are headed out for a full day adventure to grab a coffee for the road and a wrap for our packs.

A great coffee shop in the "town hub", a thriving little business centre tucked just behind the Canadian Tire. Cloudburst makes great coffee and baked goods, has a fair amount of indoor seating and lots of outdoor picnic tables. The Locavore Food Truck is right next store making this a great stop for lunch and an afternoon coffee. Free wifi is available (although not super reliable) if you are looking for a place to get a bit of work done.

Fantastic lunch spot right in the middle of Squamish. The Locavore makes great sandwiches, burgers and salads. Conveniently located on your way to/from all of the bike trails in Garibaldi Highlands, this place is often packed on a sunny afternoon. Most of the seating in outdoors (picnic tables), but if the weather isn't great you can bring your food into Cloudburst Cafe and eat in there (the two businesses are owned by the same folks).

Squamish's newest brewery! This place has been packed since they first opened their doors in March 2017. Making great beer and wood fired pizzas it's a great place to pop-in for an afternoon pint or dinner.

The tastiest ice cream you might ever have! A lovely local couple started this New Zealand-styled soft-serve ice cream shop out of a little Boler trailer and they recently opened a brick & mortar location. It's right next to the Locavore Food Truck and the two make an excellent afternoon stop after a bike ride or hike!

If you are looking for something a bit fancier, definitely make your way to The Salted Vine. A wonderful, creative food menu alongside a fantastic wine and cocktail menu. They've recently started serving brunch on weekends too!

The best sushi in town. Hands down. Be prepared to wait 20 -30 minutes for a table at dinner time most days of the week.

Sightseeing

Take the Sea to Sky Gondola to get a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and Howe Sound. There are plenty of trails to explore at the top, as well as a lodge with a full service restaurant and bar. A great place to go spend an afternoon.... especially if the weather is clear! Note: you can also hike up to the top and take the gondola down for $10. The hike up if a strenuous 7km. It is a steep trail, but it is well marked.

The famous Stawamus Chief is the large rock face you can see from almost anywhere in town. It is the largest granite monolith in North America and the primary reason rock climbers from around the world flock to Squamish. There is an ample number of rock climbing routes on The Chief (if that's what you're into be sure to grab a guide book). If rock climbing isn't so much your thing, there is also a hiking route up the back that you can take to 1st, 2nd or 3rd peak - all of which offer fabulous views of Howe Sound. The trail is steep so be sure to go out prepared with lots of water, food, and appropriate footwear.

Essentials

Further from the house, but definitely a bit nicer (and a bit pricier) than the Independent. Better selection of organic options and local produce.
