I am current 'architect of record' for this building and grounds. I enjoy the rustic wines and I love the place. Don't miss a going on a tour, or just walking around yourself (but tours take you places you can't otherwise go). It has over a hundred cellars/tasting rooms/chambers/dining halls, etc... Located closer to Calistoga on Hwy29. Make a reservation on any day except the weekends and go.

The Paris Tasting of 1976 found California Napa Wines won over the finest French wines. This shocked the world (Bottleshock film worth watching). Warren Winierski's Cabernet Sauvignon won first place. A historic place in this sense and not to be missed, the tasting room can get crowded, but they have a full range of lovely wines. Located between Yountville and Napa on Silverado Trail. By the way, use Silverado trail over Hwy 29 to avoid tourist traffic whenever you can; you can always use one of the many scenic Lanes to cross the valley as needed.

In 1984, I took a date to a small fine French restaurant in San Francisco. I ordered a bottle of Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon and absolutely loved it. In fact, Clos du Val wines also placed in the top four at the Paris tasting of 1976. Their recently built tasting room designed by Erin Martin is one of my favorites. The Acacia House restaurant at the Los Alcobas hotel on Main Street to the North end of St.Helena is a beautifully designed restoration, all white, you can't miss it. Excellent Tapas and the best mixed drinks I've found in Napa.

Located off of Main Street toward the South end of St.Helena, Farmstead is staple of eating, with a broad menu of grilled and fresh foods (my favorite item is the beets and chimichurri). It's a bit of a zoo, so make a reservation. You can also usually get a spot at the bar with a short wait.

Beautiful 2.3 mile hike to a waterfall, trailhead about a mile from the dollhouse. Best after a rain, but a nice hike anytime.
