This is a great local favorite - a bit pricey if you have a couple of margaritas! But the food and the atmosphere is fabulous. Very close to our hacienda. Great to go here for dinner before going to the river walk or show at the Tobin Center.

This is Zale's favorite mexican restaurant. It has great food and a live band most nights. Even allows for dancing.

This is a pretty good local bar-b-que place. It is not a chain and has become a favorite in this area. It has an outdoor patio area where kids can play. Sometimes it has live band. The menu keeps expanding and so far that has been a good thing.

About an hour or so north on IH 10west, there is a nice little town that has a main street filled with shops and German style restaurants. If you get there early enough you can get one of the strudels that are usually sold out by 10am every morning from the local bakery - yes it is that good.

This is very close to us. This park opened in 2013 and has many trails. Biking trails too. It has a dog park - we don't go there with our girls because they are too little. But many people do take there dogs there to romp. That section is fenced in so it will not disturb the hikers and bicyclists.

But many people do take there dogs there to romp. That section is fenced in so it will not disturb the hikers and bicyclists.
This park is downtown and great to just lay back against a big oak tree and veg. Read a book, eat a picnic lunch and just relax. This is not a hiking park.

This is a huge - and I mean HUGE granite rock that you can climb and hike all over. There is a secret cave locals explore. I used to explore the cave myself, but haven't in a very long time. I'm older and wiser now. The area views are breath taking.
