This ancient coaching inn is the most talked about restaurant in Stamford. The garden rooms don’t require a reservations and there are lots of lounges and a champagne bar while you wait for a table. Very traditional and maybe a good option for afternoon tea in the courtyard.

Another village pub in a neighbouring village. A five minute drive away, you’ll find gourmet cuisine set in a charming thatched cottage. Another favourite of mine.

The Haycock hotel is due to open on the 22nd June. It’s walking distance from the house and will host Prevost, a Michelin restaurant which is good. That said, as the refurbishment is ongoing, I’m unable to recommend. I’ll certainly be trying it out before your visit.
