Hands down one of the best family-style Polish restaurant in the city. Get the platter for two, and you are guaranteed to have enough food to feed almost 3-4 people. Their mountain of delicious sauerkraut and other delectable pickled things swimming beside schitznel, perogies and the most perfect cabbage roll, this cafe is a must-visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

One of my favourite restaurants to take visiting friends is Tinuno! This Filipino restaurant serves up a delicious, authentic Kamayan Feast at a super affordable price. Experience grilled seafood, pork and garlic rice strewn across massive sheets of banana leaf and the best part: you get to eat with your hands! This promises to be a memorable night out.

Many places in this city will claim to be authentic Japanese, but I've never felt closer to Tokyo then when I eat at this heartwarming, tiny Washoku (Western-Japanese cuisine cafe). This is truly a hidden gem in the city. The Japanese chef is professionally trained in France, but has cooked in Tokyo and Toronto, even for the local Japanese consulate. But this cafe is not stuck up, in fact it serves up the type of comfort food you crave. The Japanese couple brings together a menu that is both heart warming and delicately balanced. Make sure you try their homemade desserts as well!

A delightful little restaurant to hang out for after-work drinks and some delicious drinking snacks to pair. Imanishi's theme is Tokyo bar-eatery and they nailed it! The ambiance is nostalgic and warm. They serve up some classic Japanese drinking tapas and after-work teshoku (dinner set). This is a fun place to head out for a light dinner and drinks. Prices are mid-range to high.

The priciest suggestion on this list. Save this for a special occasion or a special someone, but Miku is guaranteed a blast. They have a great selection of fusion sushi. Miku is famous for their torched aburi sushi, beef carpaccio and a life-changing delicious matcha dessert called the green opera. Their quality is consistent and always socks-wowing. I've been a fan of their Vancouver location for years and was ecstatic to see them open up shop in Toronto.

Best fish tacos in the city. Nuff' said. Go-go-go. Plus it is situated in the always entertaining, vibrant Kensington Market. Head next door for some churros and shimmy down the street for organic beauty goods and Japanese cakes. I can spend 8 hours at Kensington Market without ever running out of things to do. But I always make sure I grab taco at Seven Lives.

German-style brunch. Meat lover's heaven. Get a giant platter of sausages, bacon, eggs and goodness knows what else and share with a group of 4. The best part is their washroom. If you see a red button: press it. Not a vegetarian friendly spot.

Sunnyside Beach along with its pavilion is truly a historic spot and local watering hole for Toronto residents for almost 100 years! The Sunnyside Bathing Pavilion was built in 1922 and it's adjacent pool was built in 1925. Since then, the original bathing facilities have been refashioned into a cafe and a dance venue. This stretch of the beach also has several butterfly garden spots and one of the best views of the Toronto skyline.
