Great local diner - has kind of a 'greasy spoon' kind of feel, but good food at a VERY reasonable price. And on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays kids eat for free after 5pm (with some exceptions). We love going there for the chocolate chip pancakes.

This is a locals place for authentic seafood. Maryland blue crabs are something every visitor has to try and Crisfields has excellent crab-cakes.

Great dive bar. This used to be an old speak-easy back in the day. Amazing beer and whiskey selection. Note - it's hard to find from the street - it's in the basement of the building on the corner - go down the steps on the outside.

Very cool artsy movie theater. The lobby is like a museum for how movies were made back in the day. Along with the standard concession stand popcorn and snacks, you can also order beer and wine.

Great trails - while it's mainly in DC, this park stretches up to the bottom of Silver Spring. If you're feeling adventurous, you could run the 9 miles or so from here to the Lincoln Memorial in DC.
