Outdoor activities in and around Anacortes
This is a paved trail walking and biking distance from the house! One of my favorite things about our location. Just walk towards the water until you get to the trail. If you make a left it takes you past the marina and into downtown (on Saturday’s it’s great route to the farmers market). If you go right, it goes by the water and eventually turns into a bridge over the water. Very beautiful!

Tommy Thompson Trail

The hike is about 45 mins away on Whidbey Island and features beautiful sound/water views, bluffs and forest. Have lunch nearby on the patio at historic Captain Whidbey Inn on Penn Cove.

Ebeys Landing
One of my favorite hikes in all of WA! You get to drive over Deception Pass on the way there which is absolutely gorgeous. The hike is about 45 mins away on Whidbey Island and features beautiful sound/water views, bluffs and forest. Have lunch nearby on the patio at historic Captain Whidbey Inn on Penn Cove.
Nice area near Deception Pass to walk around or picnic. Short half mile loop trail. I’ve seen river otters play by the dock here.

If you stop at this cute little farm stand in the way to Anacortes, it takes you a more scenic route through farmlands and is definitely worth the stop! My favorites include the farm stand pickles, canned peaches and they serve huge ice cream cones.

One of the San Juan Islands and accessible by ferry, this is a great island to bike around. There’s a small winery you can drop at on your way to town as you ride around the island.
