Just on the doorstep this prominent hill (424m) offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The summit rocks represent the remains from a volcanic eruption roughly 330 million years ago. On and around the summit are the remains of several historical structures: an Iron Age hill fort, a Roman signal station, and a "nuclear fort" of the Early Middle Ages. Enjoy a well deserved bite to eat and drink in one of Denholm's pubs restaurants or cafe. See attached link for walking route: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11413

The Ancrum Cross Keys: A pub filled with character and characters, fuelled by exceptional beer and a fantastic atmosphere. Perched on the banks of the Ale Water, with views across the beautiful Ancrum Village green, the Cross Keys is a unique little world catering for the needs of thirsty travellers, passing gastronauts, gossip hungry locals and all manner of nuclear and not quite so nuclear families.
