You can pretend to be the French Lieutenants Woman on the Cob at Lyme Regis – Jeremy Irons and Meryl Streep have long since packed their wardrobe but you can always close your eyes and dream!

The Symondsbury Estate and Colmers Hill are both well signposted and well worth a visit and contain many surprises.

Winston Churchill’ government commandeered the village and nearby Warborough Bay as a training ground for the 2nd World War D Day landings.
Tyneham is set in the Army firing ranges of Bovington and Lulworth and is only open on selected dated outside of the summer, so worth checking the opening times before setting out – www.tynehamopc.org.uk
The restored School room and Church contain many glimpses of life in the 1900’s.

The best end to a medium walk from West Bay is at the Hive Beach Café Burton Bradstock where you can refresh, eat and drink in the magnificent Hive Beach Café.

There are some fine restaurants and take aways at West Bay including the Station Kitchen, Rachels and Seagulls with 3 pubs The Bridport Arms, The West Bay and the George.
Lots of smaller fish and chip shops/cafe's but the surprise is at the Customs House where you can browse away or have a good meal and sample some gin from its own distillery.
