A 10 minute drive to the west, the Brigands Inn is what we would class as a gastropub, serving locals, travellers and the local shoot. They are very dog friendly. Head there in the morning for their Award Winning Breakfast which includes the chef's own dry cure bacon, sourdough, cider rarebit sauce, avocado, eggs, black pudding and chorizo - mmm!

The Mach Loop is set of valleys, situated between Dolgellau in the north, and Machynlleth in the south (and from which the Mach Loop gets its name), which are regularly used for low level flight training, with flying as low as 250 feet (76 metres) from the nearest terrain. You may even see the odd Typhoon heading over Llwydcoed Fach on their way to and from the Mach Loop!

Walks

We can recommend walks for all abilities! From our doorstep you can access the Dyfnant Forest Rainbow Trails and Glyndwr's Way National Trail. Further into Snowdonia the Mawddach Way provides easy, flat walking from Dolgellau to Barmouth. The Precipice Walk from Dolgellau is more moderate. For experienced and well-equipped walkers our favourite off-the-beaten path Snowdonia peaks are Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy. If you're pushed for time but keen for a challenge there is a scenic but very steep walk from the car park at the top of Bwlch yr Oerddrws on the the way to Dolgellau.
The Dyfnant Forest is just a five minute walk from our doorstep and boasts the Rainbow Trails - miles upon miles of walking routes, bridleways and carriageways. Just be sure to keep dogs under close control.
