Welcome To West Bay Roatan

City/town information

West Bay has dozens of restaurants and bars along the beach or within blocks of it. Most places have happy hour specials and nightly specials. Some of our favorite spots include: Argentinian Grill - If you're looking for beef this is one of the best spots on this island. Beachers - Very casual but very good food. Their 3 tail lobster special (Monday’s)coconut shrimp (best on the beach Friday night special) and Taco Tuesday's are fantastic. Thirsty Turtle (Bananarama Resort) - Great brick oven Pizza's, 2 for 1 pizza Thursday and Saturday happy hour specials daily. Check out the Sunday crab races and fire show. Breakfast available many places, if looking for a local place for a baleada or pastalito try La Placita Mall (Arlyn’s)(Bananarama Road) or George's (between Beachers and Fosters). Take the water taxi (catch it at Infinity Bay dock) or flag down from the beach. And go to the West End. $5 per person one way. Even more dining options there. We like Happy Harry's right on the water, their seafood platter is an event! Many more other dining options, dive shops and shopping in the West End.

Sightseeing

A must visit when on the island. Learn about the Garifuna culture and have a local lunch or dinner over the water. If you like great seafood, this is the place for you. Try the Machuca, in incredible seafood soup in a delicious coconut broth.

SCUBA certification

If you’re looking for your PADI certification you’ve come to the right place. Roatan is surrounded by the Mesoamerican coral reef (largest in the northern hemisphere) and is one of the world’s top diving destinations. Take you theory portion online before getting here so that you can complete your open water certification in a few days during your visit. There are at least 5 or 6 shops within 5-10 minutes walk.

Most amenities are walking distance

We are walking distance to many restaurants and even a little mini mall. A short water taxi or cab ride can get you to the West End shops and restaurants. If you’re looking to explore the island there are a lot of reasonably priced guided tour operators just let us know and we can offer recommendation. There are several good car rental companies, I use Macro 504 9841 0832, (Daniel) and Anderson Car rentals (Sherven) 504 97241613 . Driving in Roatan can be adventurous Typically the most visited areas are West Bay or the West End so you may not need a car for everyday.
