Be sure to visit Denison if you have time. The birthplace of President Dwight Eisenhower is located near downtown and open for tours, many professional murals have been painted all over downtown including those of Eisenhower, Sully Sullenberger from Denison, the hero of the Hudson River, and many more. Main Street on Denison hosts Denison on Ice the months of November thru Januray, an ice skating rink. There are many great Mom and Pop shops on Main Street...2 Chicks Home and Market, Main Street Mall, Vintage Mercantile, and a candy and ice cream store, a popcorn shop, a brewery, great Mexican and Italian food and Cafe Blackbird for delicious sandwiches, soups, and homemade cakes and pies daily. Denison was the first place in the US that the railroad trains going North, South, East and West crossed at the Katy Depot on Main on a cold Christmas Eve a long time ago. Be sure to go to the railroad museum and drive around and check out all the beautiful homes that the railroad barrons built back in the 1880s.
