You can take a walk on Sunset Blvd for restaurants, shops and such to get the gist of what these two neighborhoods have to offer.

Echo Park is a neighborhood close to hip and trendy Silver Lake. (Though Echo Park is no slouch in the hipster dept.) You can take a walk on Sunset Blvd for restaurants, shops and such to get the gist of what these two neighborhoods have to offer.

The Beach House was a Santa Monica hot spot with Hearst and Davies entertaining luminaries from the Hollywood set, such as Charlie Chaplin, Louis B. Mayer, Samuel Goldwyn, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable and other stars of the day. Tours of the house are available. The Beach House is a unique destination and offers many other activities. Belmont Shore is a cool cozy town by the beach. Belmont is located on in a hidden area on 2nd street stretching across about 15 blocks. There are a lot of good restaurants, shopping, dessert/ice cream shops.

The caves and tide pools are fun to explore and the views are just stunning. Easy parking, easy beach access, lots of walking trails above the beaches.
There is a campground here that is very popular with the hiking set. But there is also a day-use area on the beach side of PCH that is a nice spot to hang out, use the barbecue facilities, or bring a picnic and lounge on the beach.

If you don't want to park (and spend $20 at the gate), take the Metro to Union Station. From there there is a bus that will take you to the stadium free of charge. Give yourself enough time though! The most reasonable seats are in the bleachers in the outfield.

The other closest Metro stop is on Bundy Ave though parking is limited. The Expo line will also take you to Santa Monica and either the Sepulveda/Exposition station (has a bigger parking lot) or the Bundy/Exposition station would be a closer ride to Santa Monica than the Washington/National stop. The Washington/National stop is a better one for when you want to head downtown.
