Eating out
In our opinion, probably the best sandwich in Jurerê and also one of the main watering holes for the local crowd. It's also a great place for a cheap meal at lunchtime, usually with several fixed options. There is live music (usually Brazilian and international rock and indie cover bands) from 9 p.m. on most nights, but try to arrive before 9 p.m. if you want a table (or book: (+55 48) 3282-0767). During the pandemic, you can only get in if you are sitting at a table, so bookings are probably essential at night.

A bit further from Jurerê, but in our opinion, one of the best sushi places in Florianópolis; it also operates at another address on the roof top of a building in the Passeio Primavera open mall.

There is also a trail over the hill from the Ratones, a neighborhood close to Jurerê (about 20 min. by car and about 1 hour hike; this requires a fair level of fitness, as it is quite steep in places, but the views along the way are well worth it! An old Portuguese fort built at the beginning of the 18th century, and preserved by the local federal university, including its original canons. It is located on the Morro do Forte (Forte Hill), at the western end of Jurerê. Views are spectacular and it is worth a walk down to Praia do Forte on the other side of the hill, especially in the late afternoon, as the sunset will take your breath away. There are several bars on the beach to sit and admire the views in one of the most beautiful spots on the island.

Turn left on Av. das Palmeiras (third to the left after the entrance to Daniela) and drive to the end of the street (about 2 km) and park. On the beach, turn left and walk about 20 minutes to Pontal. It is a fantastic walk along the beach, especially in the late afternoon. From the Pontal, there is a great view of the Ratones and Sambaqui islands, downtown Florianópolis in the distance, the Tabuleiro Range to the south and the Governador Celso Ramos peninsula. AVOID BATHING IN THE SEA AT PONTAL: the water may look calm, but there are very strong converging currents!

Maybe the closest thing to a deserted beach in Floripa. A stretch of sand several kilometers long on the easter seaboard, without a single house (it's a nature reserve). Excelente for surfing or for getting away from everything!

The sea is always ice cold here...wonderfully refreshing on days when it is 110 degrees in the shade in the summer! The next beach along, Praia da Galeta, accessible only on foot from Mole, is Floripa's only nudist beach, if that's your thing.
Next to Jurerê (4 km by road or 30-40 min. by trail over Morro do Forte). It is much more down-to-earth than Jurerê, but also very beautiful, with an exuberant natural setting.

The water here is always ice cold and super transparent, one of the best bathing spots on the island, especially in the heat of summer. There are great trails over to Praia de Moçambique, to the sourth, and up the Morro das Aranhas (Spider Hill, very appropriately named, I should say), where you pass by some ancient rock drawings.

An excellente mountain biking trail. It starts near the top of the hill over to Praia Brava and ends at the entrance to the Praia dos Ingleses neighborhood. The inhumane climb at the beginning is soon compensated with one of the most exciting down hill runs on the island. For those on foot, it is worth going up to the paraglider launching point, with great views all around along the way. There is also a motorcross track near the beginning. Something for everyone!

15-20 minutes from Jurerê, located in Passeio Primavera. Liffey has 20 taps, most of them serving their own brew and it is probably the cheapest craft beer place in town, with pints at BRL 10.00. The highlights are the "PaleOça" Pale Ale and the "Frank SinApa" APA.

The highlight is the "East Coast IPA", a very clear looking IPA that is a lot like a hopped-up lager, very popular in Floripa nowadays (also being made by several other brewers, including Kairós in Jurerê). They say Unika invented it...I can't say for sure, all I can say is that it's good! This taproom is on the roof of the Beiramar Shopping Mall and it has outdoor seating on a deck area, with spectacular views over the North Bay. Their hamburger is one of the best in town.

ATMs in Jurerê
There are only two bank branches in Jurerê, one Banco do Brasil in the Open Shopping mall and one Bradesco in front of the Imperatriz Supermarket, on the corner of Rod. Maurício Sirotsky Sobrinho and Av. dos Dourados. There is only one stand-alone ATM in the whole neighborhood, located on the top floor of the Imperatriz Supermarket building. Be prepared for the queues in the high season!
