Avola is a small town best known for it's wine Nero d'Avola. 4km from our house it offers shopping, some restaurants/bars.

Siracusa was once the major city of the world and the oldest university of the world. The mathematician Archimedes (287 B.C.) is its most famous citizen. It's a 30 minute drive and offers shopping restaurants, historic places (the dome is built on a greek temple) and theatre plays in the old greek theatre. Don not miss this one!

Nature & Adventure

A drive to Avola Antica ends at a natural reserve: Cava Grande. From there you can hike down to the natural lakes of Cava Grande and take a bath in ice cold pure cristal clear water. The hike is steep (ca 1hr) so be careful if you do it in the summer. Bring lots of drinking water, something to eat. There's no opportunity to buy anything once you're down there.!

This beach can not directly be reached by car. There is no bar at the beach. Consequently it is always a little less crowded than some of the beaches (Lido di Avola or Lido di Noto). The water is clear, people are chill and the sand is smooth.

Vendicari is a natural reserve that offers beaches, wildlife and nature in it's purest forms. You can only explore on foot, so beware if you go in the summer. There are no stores. Bring enough water at all times. It's a must see! Visit the beaches of Calamosche and Eloro.
