Houghton Falls is a wonderful spot to see the waterfalls especially after we've had some rain. Houghton Falls protects a picturesque pre-Cambrian sandstone gorge along the Lake Superior shore. The dramatic sandstone cliffs extend into the clear waters of Lake Superior, affording views of the Apostle Islands.

Visit Erickson Orchards for fresh bakery goods in their Apple Store, and 75 year old apple trees, and fresh berries when in season.

Little Sand Bay Campground and Swimming Beach, 13 miles from the Wright House, my favorite swimming beach with my children. Head towards the West side of the campground area (past the former Hokenson Brother's fishery dock and building) there is a small pathway roped off stating storm damage, but just beyond it is a glorious private beach with a smooth sandy bottom. We always bring a picnic here for the afternoon.
