Use the train!
The train is a reliable, comfortable, and cheap way to get to Downtown for ~$7 per day. It's safe and way less noisy than the old carriages in Boston, New York, or Chicago. You won't have to pay for gas or parking also. Just check the schedule.

Views of the Colorado River
You can see the river/lake and the lush surrounding landscape from Sunset Deck in the Balcones nature preserve, several hundred feet above the ground level.
