A beautiful drive anytime of day, but if you’d like to see a beautiful sunset- head there about an hour before sunset. Bring a blanket and a beverage . Stop to check the view at each lookout! Overlook# 9/10 is the spot to view the sunset. Wander over to the viewing platform, then head up the dune to see lookout #10 (if you’re feeling ambitious.) Each view is unique! Set up your blanket on top of the big hill at overlook #9. Enjoy the sunset! Be sure to check out the last overlook #11 before leaving the park, for a lovely view of North Bar Lake and Empire Bluffs. ***TIP: Use restroom at overlook #11, much cleaner and less busy than restrooms at #9 /10.

Great place to rent kayaks, canoes or tubes for a nice float down the Platte River. We love tubing down the river because it ends at Lake Michigan! Great spot for a picnic too!
