Breakfast
There are some great local breakfast options, including our nearby pub at the Black Dog. My personal favourites are below and I hope you have an opportunity to try one or two of them
Potters cafe is in the heart of Dorchester, in Durngate Street. It has a lovely Mediterranean feel courtyard garden with ample seating and I love the ‘half English breakfast’ here, with a great cup of coffee.
The cafe is independent and is a firm favourite also for lunch and afternoon tea.

A great authentic Chinese takeaway. My family recommend the Singapore Fried Noodles, Chicken Chow Mein, and the king prawns are a personal favourite. I suggest pre ordering your food 30 minutes early to prevent possible waiting.

Rajpoot does both takeaway and eat in. Delicious genuine curries and other Indian dishes. If you fancy something sweet the coconut ice-cream is a fantastic option.

Zizzi is very popular for both takeout and dine in. We always have a good pizza from them. Easy to pre order on line and although they do pick ups, there is a delivery service available.

The perfect place to indulge after a coastal walk from a neighbouring beach such as Ring stead. The Smugglers Inn is in a picturesque location, situation on the cliff tops with views overlooking the isle of Portland. The seasonal menu has many great options and there’s something for everyone.

If you love to walk then I recommend The Elm Tree Inn. It is a 17th century country pub, located at the heart of the beautiful coastal village of Langton Herring, a short walk from Chesil Beach and the Fleet, on the Jurassic Coast.
There is a lovely garden, offering al-fresco drinking and dining during the summer months. Inside, there’s a wonderfully inviting atmosphere, with its cosy fireplaces and Elm bar. Everyone is welcome – families and children, cyclists, walkers and dogs!

This family pub is a walkers paradise! Situated above the village of Askerswell, this interesting old smuggler's inn, said to be haunted, dates back to 1845 when it was first licensed.
Nestling in beautiful countryside, the rear beer garden provides magnificent views, stunning scenery and a beautiful family area to relax in the sun. There is a varied menu and a large range of beers.
There is a large parking area and open 7 days a week. It is very near to Eggardon Hill if you fancy a walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

This family pub is a walkers paradise! Situated above the village of Askerswell, this interesting old smuggler's inn, said to be haunted, dates back to 1845 when it was first licensed.

My absolutely favourite‘special occasion’ restaurant. Knows for its fresh seasonal food, this award winning restaurant is situated in a traditional cottage, with a charming lounge and restaurant area. As Yalbury is known as one of the best, it is essential to book.

This elegant Japanese restaurant is always a winner with me! Attention is made to an excellent service, beautiful presentation and of course, an interesting menu choice. It is located in the heart of Dorchester and highly recommended on trip advisor.

I keep mentioning The Wise Man, as I go there for lunch, Sunday lunch, a glass of wine and an evening meal! You cannot go wrong with this place! So definitely a great evening experience particularly for fish and meat lovers with locally sourced food and a lovely atmosphere.

Sambo in Weymouth is a meat lovers destination ( I haven’t tried it as I don’t eat meat!) the authentic and Brazilian style of serving, where the servers bring the meats to your table straight from the grill one by one and carve it off the skewers on to your plate. You can take as much as you would like, big or small, thin or thick, you decide. Every meat is cooked to your preference, from rare all the way to well done. It is highly rated on trip advisor and I have heard great things about this place.

You can take as much as you would like, big or small, thin or thick, you decide. Every meat is cooked to your preference, from rare all the way to well done. It is highly rated on trip advisor and I have heard great things about this place.

Their specialities include freshly blended smoothies, raw cake and more! Based in Godmanstone, with produce available to buy in their shop. Even if you are not a vegetable sort of person, still go there as the ingredients are fabulous! And the vibe is just as good ..
