Beautiful views and walks surrounding Lough Ennell lake. When entering the lake from certain parts of the shore there is sand beneath your feet, you can also rent boats and kayaks out on the lake.

The old rail trail is part of the old disused railway line connecting Mullingar to athlone which was repurposed as a walk way, running and cycling trail that runs all the way to athlone from Mullingar some 40km’s long. It was some very scenic views and you can stop off in some of westmeath’s finest villages along the way. It was also used in the film the great train robbery staring Sean Connery.
