If you're looking for a beautiful and peaceful island near Corfu, we highly recommend a visit to Paxos. It boasts stunning beaches and delicious Italian restaurants. You can even take a day trip to the smaller island of Antipaxos, which has breathtaking Voutoumi beach. However, we suggest staying for at least two days to fully explore both islands. To reach Antipaxos, you can take a 15-minute sea-taxi ride from the port of Gaios in Paxos.

Buses and rental cars are the best way to explore the island

The central bus station in Corfu is located in Saroko Square, close to the apartment. It's called Corfu City Bus on maps, and from there you can take a bus to visit different places around the island. However, renting a car will give you access to more places and the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Greek basic Phrases

Good morning: Καλημέρα (kah-lee-MER-ah) This greeting is typically used until noon. After that, you can use "Γεια" (yah) as a standard greeting for the rest of the day. Goodnight: Καληνύχτα (kah-lee-NEEKH-tah) This phrase is commonly used when going to bed. Yes: Ναί (neh) No: όχι (OH-hee) It's important to note that "neh" means "yes" and "OH-hee" means "no". Be careful not to confuse the two, as it's easy to associate "neh" with "no" in English. A helpful tip is to remember that these words are actually the opposite of what you might initially think.

Packing Tips for Your Corfu Vacation

When preparing for your trip to Corfu, make sure to pack sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect yourself from the strong Mediterranean sun. Don't forget to bring aloe gel for sunburns and towels for the beach. It's also a good idea to pack power banks to keep your devices charged on the go and a hat to shield your face from the sun. For beach days, be sure to bring swimwear and either sandals or shoes suitable for sandy beaches. Keep in mind that some prescription drugs may be difficult to obtain in Greece, so it's recommended to pack your necessary medication with you.
