The town of Lismore is famous for its Castle which is still a family home. While access to the castle itself is not permitted, the magnificent gardens are open to the public from March to October. Throughout the gardens are art works as well as two sections of the Berlin Wall. The dedicated art gallery in a small section of the castle also has a coffee shop.

There are several beaches enjoy along the East Cork Coast. Garryvoe has ample parking, a playground and a nearby hotel however it is a tidal beach so check tide time before you go. Ballywilling (also tidal), Ardnahinch or Ballynamona beaches are also beautiful.

This island in the centre of Cork harbor has been a monastic settlement, a British Barracks and a prison. Today you can get a boat to the island (from Cobh) and tour the island on your own or with a guide who will take you through the history. There are several displays in the old buildings to help you visualise the history.

The lively town of Cobh is waiting for you. Take a walk along the famous promenade where there are often festivals and activities especially when some of the worlds largest cruise liners are in town. Cobh is also famous for being the last stop of the Titanic as well as being one of the major emigration centres for the south of Ireland in the 1800's. There are very good museums dedicated to both events in the town. Cobh is also the point of departure for Spike Island.
