Nagles Bagel's is our go-to breakfast spot. They bake their bagels fresh every morning and serve excellent drip coffee and espresso drinks. The cafe provides a focused atmosphere. Fast-wifi and tables with outlets make it a perfect spot to sit and work for a few hours.

Blue Sky is a perfect destination for pastry lovers. They are just a couple blocks away and serve simple pre-made breakfasts.

Hammond's is the best value meal in the neighborhood. We eat here at least once a week! I recommend getting one piece of chicken and a bake for $5. I highly recommend their jerk sauce: the more the better!

Spectacular home-style Italian food! Their pizzas are decadent and their pasta is so so fresh. Add in their house wine and you have everything you need. Highly recommended for a tasty night out.

PLG is one of my favorite local nooks. Their food is made in-house and their coffee is bottomless. Their staff is always welcoming and friendly. This is a great spot to sit with a book or a laptop and work for a while.

This is a great price for a lot of food. It's a simple menu but all their items are cooked very well. This is a great option for a quick dinner. And you can get a bagel and coffee next door at Lula Bagel!

I love Barboncino because it's a beautiful late-night bar that also serves delicious pizza. You cannot go wrong here. Everything here is delicious but I particularly recommend their Rosemary cocktail and Marinara Pizza

If you're looking for a fancy dinner, Alenbi is across the street and highly recommended. Featuring Kosher Israeli cuisine, they also have a comfortable ambiance with music. They are reservation only through their website, but you can typically get a reservation for the same day.

Vietnamese American fusion; their specialty are fluffy rice buns with delicious, inventive fillings. We would come here twice a week, if we could. Settle in for an evening and order everything on the menu! Kara and I never leave without ordering a Spam and Speculoos Bun.

Glady's serves some of the best traditional Caribbean food in the neighborhood in a beautiful setting. Come here for a quick lunch on their patio or for drinks at the bar at night. They have a second location on Franklin avenue.

Covenhoven is my favorite beer bar and shop in the city. Comfortable ambiance, excellent selection, and a beautiful backyard. Highly recommended and great for a 20 minute or 2 hour visit.

While it's about a 10 minute walk away, this is a fantastic grocery store. The have a brilliant produce selection and a wide selection of quality, healthy foods. They have a delicious deli with lots of food and cheese to-go.

You can spend your entire trip in Prospect Park and still not have explored all of it. There is an amazing farmers market at the northern tip of the park every Saturday; night time movies in the park; free concerts; trail running; and a zoo! Don't leave town without spending some time here!

The Botanic Garden is a world-class conservatory. It is as much a history museum of plants from around the world as it is a nature walk. While it is busiest in the Spring and Summer, the green houses are stunning year round.
