Independent - One of the first to descend on Marrickville, pioneering the craft brew scene, this is a must stop if you're brewery hopping. Batch offer a broad range of styles, with lip-puckering sours, hoppy ales and rich dark beers. Their American Pale Ale is a great benchmark for the style, and their sours hit the spot when the sun is at its brightest.

Not independent (Tribe) - Stockade's Barrel Room in Marrickville is an experimental space with a constantly changing list of offerings. Central location, close to several others and worth a pop in to taste something you may never get to try again, if experimental beers aren't exactly up your alley.

Independent - If gin is your tipple, Poor Toms have a great little core range worth stopping in for. I'm easily sold on their Sydney Dry gin with tonic, but they also offer some delectable cocktails and spin chilled tunes in a very laid back space.
