This is my favourite panino shop in town, just a few steps from the apartment. This landmark spot, open since 1875, is quite literally a hole in the wall, where the two brothers behind the tiny counter ('Fratellini' means 'Little Brothers') will serve you delicious panini. Try the local finocchiona or salsiccia cruda, a fresh, raw sausage. Open daily 10am-7pm (or until the bread runs out)

Founded in 1221 by Dominican monks, it is considered today the oldest herbal pharmacy in the world. On display is a superb selection of handcrafted perfumes, soaps, skincare products, home scents, and so much more. Their products are still produced with ancient recipes, including perfumes quite literally fit for a queen. In 1533 Caterina de’ Medici was betrothed to Henry II, the future King of France, and she asked the Dominican friars to create a fragrance to recall Florence’s elegance and grace. The masterpiece created was called “Acqua della Regina” (meaning “The Queen’s Water”). Open daily 10am-8pm
