Kilmainham symbolises the Irish rebellion against British rule and provides a unique insight into Irish history. I really recommend booking online ahead of time for this as it books out quite often.

Newgrange is a very famous 5000 year old tomb. The lines can be quite long so try to book ahead if possible. Even better in my opinion is the less famous but more interesting Knowth site. It has wonderful views of the surrounding countryside from on top of the mound.

Parks & Nature

One of my favorite places in Dublin to take a walk along the Irish sea with views of Howth and Dublin City. It's 5km of beach that is a result of human intervention in the bay. I take our big dog here most weekends.

Great place for a 6km hike with beautiful views of the Irish sea. Easily accessibly by car or public transport (DART). There are lovely pubs and seafood restaurants in the village for a bite to eat and drink afterwards.

The Bray to Greystones walk is 6km of a well formed cliff walk. While in Greystones, stop in at The Happy Pear, a lovely vegan cafe run by two twin brothers. In Bray, visit The Harbour Bar that was voted 'the best bar in the world' by Lonely Planet in 2010. It's upstairs is a really fun and unusual place to hange out. You can take the dart back between Greystones and Bray to collect your car.

A lovely castle and grounds located around 30 minutes from our house. Sweeping views of the sea and nice walks, particularly with dogs. It has a very large playground for kids.

It's a great place to pick up any essentials (e.g. milk, cheese, yoghurts, cereals). It also has a Subway sandwich shop, a deli counter and a coffee shop. You can also purchase beer and wine here.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Dublin serving up some of the most delicious Irish food around. It is in a lovely location upstairs on the quays.

Entertainment & Activities

The Gate was founded in 1928 and recently had a new director start after 33 years under the old guard. Her first production of an immersive experience of The Great Gatsby running during the summer of 2017 is getting great reviews.
