Because they roast their beans in-house. Everything is delicious. If you need a serious boost the cold brew is prefect. It's smooth and delicious but has a ton of caffeine. I love the traditional macchiatos and cappicinos. The cinnamon honey latte is a great off the menu treat. On Fridays they have delicious tamales - they are a bit spicy. It's a little off the beaten path. Mostly locals. A great way to meet people and get a feel for Pasadena. They have live music a few days out of week. No wifi. Bonus: it's next door to a great, fast-food, pizza by the slice spot.

Gale and her team serve some of the best Italian food in the area and their desserts are wonderful as well. This place is great for a date night or a business lunch. It has a small bar if you are solo, which is really lovely.

This is Pasadena's finest steak house. It's been here for years and is owned and operated by a local restaurant Group. This is definitely high end dining. It's only open for dinner and reservations may be required. Try the sourdough garlic bread if you find yourself here.

This is a Sister restaurant for the Arroyo Chop House. Another very high-end restaurant. Mostly locals go here. They have a great bar (Kevin makes great drinks). They offer a wide variety of contemporary California cuisine. They are open for lunch, you probably will need reservations for dinner. The corn dog shrimp is amazing! This is a fancier Mexican Restaurant. There are a few locations in LA. They have a good dinning menu but they also have a different happy hour menu which I love because you can try a few different dishes instead of just one. I think they have live mariachi on the weekends.

I believe it is $60 for a bottle of wine and two entrees and two salads (the two meat entrees are additional). They have a great bar with a great happy hour as well. It gets pack quickly, especially on Mondays. You might consider making a reservation.

It is better to take public transportation or a taxi to downtown because the streets can be confusing and parking is difficult and expensive.

This is an English Pub with fish and chips, bangers and mash, and a large selection of Belgium Beers. It's a great place to watch a soccer game. There are lots of locals here and lots of Cal Tech/JPL folks.

This is a legit speakeasy. It use to be a deli and it still has the deli signs up. I think it is only open on the weekends and you have to call or email to get a password. You enter through the ally. They make good drinks and they offer a light menu of snacks.

This place is amazing. It is a fully restored bowling ally from over 100 years ago. The place is stunning. There are only a few bowling lanes. They have a lovely cafe (although I am not too crazy about the food or coffee selection there). There Japanese and Chinese gardens are stunning. My favorite is the cactus garden. They offer free walking ours on the weekends. Check their website for hours and special events.

They are known for their collection of modern art and their collection of south and southeast Asian art. I love this museum because it is not too overwhelming. You could comfortably spend a few hours there, see everything and still have time to enjoy the est of your day.

This is the headquarters of the Self Realization Fellowship. They have a gorgeous, peaceful garden with some of the best views of DT. Your drive up here will no doubt be very adventurous, because the roads a narrow and windy, but it will be worth it. They are closed Mondays. Check their website for hours.

LA's newest museum. There is a long wait daily. So try to make a reservation online. Entrance is free. The Museum of Contemporary Art, LA is across the street. It is also neat the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Music Center. You can access it pretty easily by train.

Access this hiking trail from the very top of Lake Ave. It's about 3 miles to the top of Mt Echo. You can certainly continue hiking from there. There are ruins from a hotel and train that use to be there. It's a healthy hike, steep in certain areas but very nice and lot of people go.
