Amazing BBQ - I love their brisket, and also their Dirty Mac! So yummy. If you enjoy beer, they also have a good selection of craft beers and are at the same time the only place in town where you can get Hamm's.

A wide selection of sausages and charcuterie, and they also have a fantastic outdoor patio which is great for relaxing with a beer in summer afternoons.

The Porch has the best biscuits in town, fluffy, buttery and amazing. Sometimes I go here and order just the side of biscuits. This is also a good place to go on a date!

Drinks & Nightlife

Kupros is in an old Craftsman house, which I love, and they have a great bar. The bartenders are friendly, they have a wide and varied beer and wine selection, and a good food menu as well. A great all-around location with indoor and outdoor seating for those summer days and nights.

The Flamingo House is a new bar in Sacramento, and is one of two that arrived around the same time with very intense themes - everything is flamingos! They have delicious cocktails and a decent bar food menu.

The Golden Bear is a great more traditional Sacramento bar. It's been around for decades. They have around 5 beers on tap, but always an IPA, a cider, a dark beer, a pilsner, and something else. So despite having few taps, they always have something for everyone! On the weekend nights it turns into a mini nightclub with DJs.

Sightseeing

The state capitol building is within walking distance of my home, is free to enter (although you have to go through security), and is beautiful inside the dome. There also is a rotating museum and some rooms set up as they would have been at different points in history. If you go at the right time, you can also see the California state legislature in session!

Arts & Culture

Crocker Art Museum is great. They are housed partly in a historic building owned by the Crocker family, one of the Big 4 that built the transcontinental railroad that ended / started in Sacramento. The other part of the museum is in a modern building. They have great art exhibits, and on the 2nd Thursday of each month they have ArtMix, where the museum is open late, and they have live bands, costume themes, and alcoholic beverages.
