Food Scene

This is a 5min drive from the apartment, or a nice walk for say 20mins. Great atmosphere and food, a little gem of Canberra. I´m here about 2-3 times a week for coffee :)

Walk into an iconic bar, cafe restaurant of Canberra. Step back into the 1920´s with the music and booths. The waitresses all wear funky ties and they serve big yummy cakes, great coffee´s or wholesome meals. Hang out with smooth 20´s music in the background. Tilley´s is a bit further from the apartment, but a great little getaway if you´ve been exploring the city and want a nice place to relax and grab a cuppa afterwards. I´m actually sitting at Tilley´s right now as I right this, in one of their booths, drinking a cappuccino. Live gigs too - often new and upcoming artists start here, just check their schedule.

Parks & Nature

A 5min drive from the apartment, I walk Mt Taylor most mornings. Fresh air, animals and gorgeous views at the top. It´s a great workout up the mountain, or a nice stroll around the base if you don´t want too much of a heart rate. Charge up and back in under an hour or stop for rests and photos and take up to two hours. Gorgeous views of Canberra, beautiful wildlife and birds. I recommend heading to A Bite To Eat in Chifley afterwards for a rewarding cuppa. I usually park around 56 Wilsmore Cres in Chifley and walk back around the corner onto Macfarland Cres to start the trail.

Mount Ainsle is another great walk and centrally located if you´ve just done the War Memorial or Galleries and museums in central Canberra. I´m less familiar with this mountain, as I usually walk Mt Taylor, but I know the timing of the walk is about the same and the views are also gorgeous. If you want a mountain you can drive up instead - this is a great option. :)
