Arts & Culture

If they're open, and they're often not due to various cultural events just for the members of the pueblo, definitely a must see. It's the oldest continuously occupied building in the country and just a beautifully scenic spot.

Worth the visit just to see Ms. Rogers' amazing collection of turquoise jewelry. You likely won't see a collection this big and wonderful anywhere else. She was quite the collector. In addition, there's always a significant collection of local and regional art passing through, alone worth the visit.

Sightseeing

The Spanish didn't send many soldiers out to protect their colonies, so the people had to do it for themselves. Hence, the fortified plaza where people and their animals could be brought inside and the place essentially turned into a fort. Lots of shops and a nice plaza park in the middle.

Right next to Taos Ski Valley and some gorgous hikes up toward Mt. Wheeler, highest point in NM. Be sure to be acclimated before you start! When you come down head to the Bavarian Restaurant, right near where you start the hike to Williams Lake/Mt. Wheeler.

It's not really a 'park' but an official Bureau of Land Management (federal) protected area that you can driver around, hike down into the river canyons and just enjoy a picnic. Good biking out there too.
