This is a great place to immerse yourself in London history and it's fairly local so please do try it. The shop is good too.

Take the outside glass lift to the restaurant and bar on the 40th floor! It's like going up in a rocket. Amazing.

Everyone raves about Poppies Fish n' chips near Brick Lane, but you've got this local chippy practically on the doorstep, which is just as good, if not better.

OK, so this is a Vietnamese chain BUT it has a reasonable menu and it's really near so I always go here if I'm in need of a good spicy tiger prawn pho, or a spicy salad.

The best Parsi Indian street food. You'll have to book in advance because the place is always packed out. Unless you go at 3pm on a weekday. I love it.

Really, really cheap fruit and veg. This is like the Ridley Rd market so very gritty, packed with locals. Nothing posh here, but I love it. The food kiosk at the corner of Vallance Rd is a treasure.
