Enjoy the National Zoo just a short bike or uber ride away or a generous 30 minute walk from Mimi's Place through Rock Creek Park. If driving, biking, or walking recommend the Rock Creek Park entrance down Harvard Street which is closest, and there is parking available. The main entrance is on the other side of the park accessible from Connecticut Ave. In the spring, summer, and early fall, the zoo and its animals are on full display. In the winter, the zoo is festooned with winter lights and becomes a seasonal draw for residents and tourists alike.

One of the oldest landmarks is the world-famous "Ben's Chili Bowl" which has been a fixture on U Street since its founding in 1958. This establishment is a true surviving institution and DC landmark. There is a plethora of stuff to do and experience including restaurants, live music & jazz, shopping, cafés, museums, etc. Plenty of foot traffic and street life. Hugely popular among young adults and young professionals.
