Great dinner restaurant. SO good. Spanish Tapas, but with a modern twist. You will love everything on the menu, I promise. Get your name on the list, and then go upstairs to the Secret Society cocktail bar while you wait. I cannot say enough how good their cocktails are...and how cozy and dark and romantic it all feels. This is my perfect dinner/date night out.

Ethical and local sushi. Really spot on. Great options for fish eaters and vegetarian friendly. Salt and Straw ice cream - a cult classic - is next door. Great walkable neighborhood with lots of boutiques.

The best farmer's market in America. Open year-round on Saturdays. Check their website for most up-to-date information. You can take Bus 16 from the island and transfer to Max Orange. Takes about 45 minutes, but a fun ride.

Head to Timberline Lodge (The Hotel from the Shining) and get a hot cocoa or beer and check out Mt. Hood...lots of snow in the winter, so you will need 4-wheel drive. In summer, a few great hikes right from the hotel.

A huge, beautiful waterfall. You can hike to the top - it is all uphill and really pretty! On weekends it can be very busy.

The perfect spot to walk alone on the riverfront in Fall, Winter, and Spring and watch the big ships, tankers and barges coming from across the sea to the port of Portland. Or sunbathe with the crowds in summers. Get a parking pass from the Cracker Barrel before going.
