We prefer to eat in the more casual bar area. We love the eclectic vibe and it's great for kids. Book the cozy room for groups of 8 or more.

This is our current favorite spot for an early dinner or apres-hike snack. The food and the drinks are fabulous and the setting is what makes the place. Bocce ball, cider, and live music. You can't beat that.

Our current favorite special dinner spot to take guests, the Foxfire Mountain House isn't a restaurant or an inn -- it's an experience. This place is incredibly and stylishly decorated and the food is delicious. It's for these reasons they're constantly booked for weddings and only open their place to non-guests a few nights a week. We encourage you to make reservations in advance and arrive early to explore the grounds. Then sit on the veranda and eat their farm-to-table menu and drink their fabulous cocktails.

It took us years to discover this place, but friends told us about it and now it's a regular dining spot. Sit outside on the porch and look out at the raging Esopus River. The food here is not only delicious, it's not pricey.

Amazing Italian food in a romantic setting, but great for kids. The food is divine, the owners came upstate after decades in some of NYC's hottest restaurants. This is what you came to the Catskills for, gems like this.

The Urban Cowboy Lodge is the epitome of hipster Brooklyn comes to the Catskills. Bearded guys, Influencers, flannel shirts, knit caps, lots of dogs. Roberta's Pizza pop-up straight from Bushwick and a bonfire. The views on the property are outstanding. When it opens post-pandemic, we will be first in line to go. What more could you want?

Walk to town from the house and grab a drink in the bar. Not quite as quirky and interesting as the Colonial Inn, but you can eat at this bar and the food is very good. Live music some nights. Deck dining in the warm months.

Sightseeing

We love Andes for the shopping and for the cider (Wayside Cider). Don't miss the rail trail along the old railroad and take a drive along the country roads for spectacular views. Our favorite trail is the Palmer trail, located on the outskirts of town.

This place is worth the day trip. Hike up the falls from below or start at the top and head down. Particularly gorgeous in the spring (snow melt!) and after heavy rainfall. Oh, and in the fall of course. Stop at Twin Peaks coffee and donuts for a homemade donut fresh out of the fryer before or after your trip to the falls.

In summer, take a gondola ride up the mountain to enjoy the lush scenery. In fall, drive or hike from our house to the mountain to take in the spectacular foliage. In winter, hit the slopes. You can hike to the mountain from our front door, we do it all the time.

The farmers market at the Round Barn is a quintessential Catskills experience. Located in an old 1700s round barn, the Pakatakan Farmer's market is a much-visit. Pick up fresh baked breads, local cheeses, ciders (the alcoholic variety), fresh veggies pulled from the ground that day and meat bred and cured right here in the Catskills.
