If you like steam railways, the Severn Valley Railway is for you! Starting in the historic town of Bridgnorth, it follows the river Severn to Kidderminster. Rather than go all the way, which is quite far, I recommend getting out at Highley to see the Engine House, with its locomotives and Peter's Railway exhibition for younger engineers.

Small and enthusiastic, there is short railway (the stops and starts are the most exciting bits of steam travel!) and a great model railway.

The Industrial Revolution started here, and the Ironbridge museums are very popular. We like Blists Hill Victorian town, Coalport china museum, and the Museum of the Gorge as well as the Ironbridge itself, of course. The museums are all very family-friendly and often have craft workshops and the like.

We love the Wrekin because it is a nearby, straightforward walk with far-reaching views at the top. There is a good path up to the top and parking at the bottom.
