Their strawberry yogurt is a delightful swirl of honey with fresh and preserved strawberries. Compared to the other yogurt blends in town, theirs is not too sour but with just the right sweetness. They also have them plain and with mangoes, when in season.

Conveniently located near the entrance of the Lumiang Cave, you might want to stop first for a tall drink of macha green iced tea in this rustic hangout before entering the bowels of the earth. Are glass noodles made of glass or are they just like the regular ramen? That's a food for thought. If you haven't had coffee wine yet, you should get a glass or a bottle of Bauko's finest here.

If you're on the hunt for the authentic Sagada brew, you can only find it here. This is the only coffee shop that processes and serves civet coffee (Kape Alamid), named so from the droppings of the civet cats that are endemic to the area. The servings are huge! Have their Farmhouse Breakfast Omellete before you set out on a hike and you'd be all set. I love sitting out on the balcony with my meal and the morning sun.

Up for some grilled pork or chicken for dinner? This is your joint. They come highly recommended. They serve them with potato fries and salad greens which has a wonderful dressing! Lightly sweet with a kick of spice! And did I tell you how their meat simply drips with amazing thick sauce?

In my opinion they have the best pinikpikan in town. It's right in the middle of lower Dagdag area and is usually packed with tourists who'd just finished with their spelunking tours late at night. I love their chicken and etag!

If you prefer greens over meat, this is your food stop. Most, if not all, of their ingredients are freshly made by hand, locally sourced and organic. They are located by the side of the road, with a panoramic view of the nearby ranges. And if you feel like dining with a good read, you'd be welcome to borrow a book from their mini-library!

Drinks & Nightlife

In the mood for a swig of craft beer by an open fire where the meat is grilling, while being surrounded by pine trees? For wanderers who decide to suddenly show up, they have sausages for grilling as well as craft beer and quality wine. However, you'd have to make a reservation 3 days prior for a minimum of 12 people if you want a buffet dinner by the French Chef "Aklay", and 12 hours prior for a minimum of 8 folks if you feel like having a fusion of Igorot and Negrense cuisine.

If you're familiar with Sagada's cultural icon, Biag, then you might be psyched to find out that the village was where he used to live in when they finally settled here. Dagdag has four dap-ays, or tribunals, with its own network of narrow footpaths.

Sightseeing at the entrance and a guided spelunking tour are great here. It’s not too long of a walk or drive from town and absolutely beautiful. Only downside is that it’s Php 200/1 - 10 guests to sightsee, but The Sumaging is by far an interesting cave to explore and it is where a cave connection tour can start from. You can park your car at Sumaging Cave Man Pension to get started.

Parks & Nature

Beautiful views and hiking, it is a must-see for people who are visiting. Lake Danum has an interesting story as to how it came to be, I recommend you ask some of the locals and start up a conversation. Leaving the town center at 4:30pm, you'll get to the lake just in time for a stunning sunset. Relish the walk, break a sweat!

The peak offers a breathtaking view of the sunrise, usually after a rainfall the night before. The walk all the way to the peak takes an hour, give or take, from the town center, and it is best to leave for Kiltepan at 4:30am. A piece of advice, though, take the hike on weekdays. You can thank me later.

Sagada is also known for the intricate woven patterns that adorn our traditional wanes (loincloth) for the men and gatang (skirt wrap) and bakget (tassled belt) for the women. Nowadays you can see the Sagada Weaving made into all sorts like bags, vests et al. This is the workshop of the Bondad - Aranduque family that pioneered in the business, where you can still check out the huge looms which they still use to this day.

Sagada used to be known as Ganduyan back in the day. It meant "Beautiful Paradise", and anyone who has been here, lived here, would likely agree. And this museum, which was original curated and run by the awe-inspiring late Christina Aben, showcases an amazing collection of tribal artifacts mostly utilized by - but not exclusive to - the Ysagada Igorots. The tasteful one-room museum was first opened in 1984, and after a long history, is now under the care of Malidom, Aben's son. Expect to see intricate and antiquated trade beadwork, weapons, basketry, farming tools, textiles, wooden items and earthen jars, among others.

Piitik is what Igorots call the intentional spill of the first swig of wine unto the ground. It can be beer, gin or any kind of liquor. The first chug is for the anito, the ancestral spirits. Manong Egbert expertly ferments endemic fruits and berries and they store the wines in a cob cellar. They display their wines all over town, but you might want to buy them straight from the source.

True, there are dozens of souvenir shops lining up and down the South Road with products showcasing the Sagada weave as well as apparel for the cold weather. What makes Sagada Quality Merchandise stand out is their selection. Apart from the Sagada weave, they also have the woven products from other Eastern locales in the Mountain Province. And these interesting patterns adorn backpacks, pouches, platform sandals, tapis and table runners. Manang Annie also sells the traditional gating (skirt wrap) with the bakget (tassled belt) for women and the wanis (loincloth) for men. Also lining her shelves are jams and preserves, Korean goods and homeware.

It is interesting to note that no matter how mothers with babies and toddlers thrive in Sagada, there don't seem to be any shop selling baby stuff. Except for 7J's. They are working on adding baby essentials to their merch. This store is also stocked with a wide array of apparel and accessories apart from the souvenirs that you can also find in the other local shops.
