JOURNEY BEHIND THE FALLS, cheaper than the cruise, with shorter lines and open year round (even in ice and snow) is walking to the base of the falls – your chance to sit underneath one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down in front of you. The lines aren't nearly as long for the cruise and yes, you will get wet. About $17 per adult, 6650 Niagara Parkway

Not only is this place the famous battlefield from the War or 1812, it is also our pioneer cemetery. Want to know more, just ask your friendly hosts who have done many walks there before.

Everything Else

It all started with the Bonapartes...
GET MARRIED: Napoleon’s brother, Jerome Bonaparte travelled by stage from New Orleans to spend his honeymoon in Niagara Falls and returned home with a glowing review. Since virtually everyone emulated royalty as much in that era as they do today, Niagara Falls has become the honeymoon capital of the world. The City of Niagara Falls issues marriage licenses at the City Clerk's Office, 4310 Queen Street. About $125 per couple (2022), no waiting period, and all couples are welcome. If you’ve already made that leap and it’s your honeymoon, you can still get an Official City of Niagara Falls Honeymoon Certificate (bride gets free passes to some local attractions) from the Ontario Travel Centre.

Gateway for most of our visitors.. Niagara Falls is awe-inspiring and the falls are truly a world wonder. However, Niagara Falls has also made itself a place to visit in its own right. From naturals parks and greenspaces; casinos and the midway; to world class restaurants, clubs, bars it a place we’re proud to call home and hope you’ll enjoy visiting. How to have a good time in Niagara Falls: Step 1) Book our home away from home as your Airbnb! Step 2) Plan ahead, check groupon.com for any current deals for attractions. Also consider the adventure pass (as it represents a better value if you plan on doing multiple activities) Step 3) Go to Niagara Falls, Ontario and walk down the street

Twoonie ($2) Tuesday folks, or just a place to grab a cone and sit down beside the gentle Chippawa River on a sunny day. Ironically one of the things we did on our wedding day...

Entertainment & Activities

CLIFTON HILL AMUSEMENT (MIDWAY/AREA) One of Niagara’s hubs of tourist activity just above the falls filled with interesting entertainment. Everything here costs and every business in the tourist zone also levies a tourist tax. So although it’s full of tourist attractions such as wax museums, a Ferris wheel, Ripley's Believe it or Not, haunted houses, and gift shops – pay only if something truly picks your fancy.

Looking for non-grape wines of every kind, from bone dry blueberry for a fine steak, through to dry pear for seafood, spiced pear for mulled crock pot cider (a holiday regular at our table). One of our favourite local wineries.

One of our favourite Ontario dairy bars, with very high quality ice creams served right beside the pasture. Also very close to Six Nations, area we stop for food, cigarettes, gas and ice cream.

Consistently high quality of food, care and attention given to service in a burger, diner environment. Our favourite place to eat on the Six Nations Reserve and worth the drive from Hamilton, Niagara or Kitchener. Go to choices: whatever the soup of the day is, buffalo chicken POUTINE, bison burger and most of these are large enough to share. We always come home with left-overs.
