Navigating to and around downtown and beach.
Parking is at a premium. Just pay at one of the city parking decks and get it over with.
The Market and King Street are always busy but market is open lots of evenings when crowds are less and it may be cooler.
Best restaurants can be difficult to get into. Book ahead if possible.
Folly Road out to Folly Beach can be backed up in the summer. Minimize your time on it by going out Dills Bluff. (See directions in our Handbook.) Go early; stay late.
Avoid going to John's Island or West Ashley at rush hours, if possible. Traffic can be a nightmare! Drawbridge possibly a problem.

Remember: Iced tea is usually sweetened. Ask.
Fried foods and sweet tea are common but not all that's available. ASK!
