Parks & Nature

•Hiking up and down the 7 mile Outlet Trail. It follows the course of the outlet of Keuka Lake to Seneca Lake. It is on the old railroad bed, which before 1850’s was the towpath for the old Keuka Canal. All along the path are ruins of mills, dams, raceways and sluices for the mills and locks of the canal. 14 miles long if you go from Penn Yan to Dresden and back.

Getting Around

•Rent or Bring your own bikes for a half day, 40 mile circuit around the lake. A shorter, 16 mile round trip, to the Olney Place (Deli), is great. 22 miles round trip goes to a short hike (1.5 mile) up a boulder strewn creek and gorge to a beautiful waterfall. Pretty private at the right time of the day.

Entertainment & Activities

•For good value wines that taste good, check Hunt Country on Italy Hill Road, running west from Branchport (west branch of Keuka Lake). Try Alchemy and anything else your tastes tend to favor. Nice little gift shop too. •For great whites with big reputations, there are two wineries, Herman Wiemer (top of our list) on 14 and Dr. Franks on the country road that the Keuka Lake Wine Trail follows between Branchport and Hammondsport (not 54A, rather up the hill along the ridge) •Ravines and Rooster Hill (high on our list) are two very nice wine making experiences. Ravines is NYS Winery of the Year 2016 and has some wonderful Dry Rieslings and a Pino Noir; and Rooster Hill has a broad range
