Food Scene

If you're out near the East end for any reason (or if you just want to explore), make sure to stop in at the beautifully rustic MozzaPi for fantastic baked goods and breakfast eats - definitely try the smoked grits. Their lunch menu features small pizzas and sandwiches and everything is made in house, most of which in their huge wood fired oven.

Good tacos and tortas for a quick bite. There are two locations, one on Baxter that is a little smaller and one off Shelbyville Rd in St. Matthews that has a bit more seating. Either location is great!

This Clifton bakery and cafe is straight out of a scene in Paris. The fresh pastries are fantastic, we recommend the coconut macaroons for something familiar and the kouign amann for a rare treat. Bottomless Illy coffee is a must if you're staying for brunch and the breakfast pizza is our favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

If you're looking for a swanky speakeasy with upscale drinks, this is your spot. A dimly lit, nondescript building furnished with leather chairs is a great environment to kick back for a drink after dinner. Cocktails are unique and the waitstaff is knowledgeable.

During horse racing season, this is a great place to go watch the races or you can stop by at any time of year and check out the museum. The Kentucky Derby is also kind of a big deal.

Parks & Nature

Since the Louisville Loop spans 100 miles, I'm just listing my favorite of the parks along the way, but if you like this one, check out Pope Lick Park and the Parklands of Floyds Fork. Paved trails and normal hiking trails offer something for everyone here.

The Louisville waterfront park runs right into this walking bridge, which takes you across the Ohio river to southern Indiana. This is a great place to take a stroll on a nice day and visit some of the little shops across the river before heading back.
